We need to take a close look at what we offer our children. They are the future of Alaska!

The education system is one of the most expensive costs in the Alaska budget, yet we have low graduation rates and our state’s scores are some of the lowest in the nation. In District 6, we must focus on the skills our students need to be successful in life and provide them with the best teachers.

Alaska’s future depends on a quality educational system that increases employment options and produces a strong local workforce laden with problem solvers and independent thinkers.

Some ways we can accomplish this for our students is to hire and retain excellent educators, decrease administrative costs, balance the basics (math, reading, writing) improve vocational education programs, and teach life skills along with citizenship. Let’s excite students to develop into lifelong learners!
